    These are my pratical observations:
In the first month of start of workout , there is absolutey no change in weight. Either it remains constant or there may be some minor wt gain. But as one continues to do exercise your wt starts falling, especially during the 3rd month and 4th month. My routine was 30 to 40 minutes running 4 days/week .

Sometimes I have also measured before and after my jog, and was surprised to find that there was absolutely no change in wt. I was wondering how efficient the human body is. 30 minutes of work done with no no calorie requirement :)
while continuning this routine I was able to reduce my wt by 12 Kgs (74 to 62Kg, height of 5'8", age 36) in 4 months time.
wt continue to remain at that point even if you discontinue workout (may be for 4 to 5 months) dont know how :o .

One more point: No smoking, No Drinking , very ocasional eat outs(2 or 3 time in a month).

Ok one last piece of advise:
"The challenge is not how much or how difficult exercise you are able to do, but how long you are able to continue" so motivation is a must, Fix this factor first.
