Weight Loss is the loss in your body-weight - the sum weight of your bones, muscles, organs, body fat and water in the body. Fat Loss is the loss in your body fat - the amount of fat your body carries. Healthy goals are 12-20% body fat for men and 18-25% for women.

    Hi Bhavika,
Amalakki alone doesn't help in weight reduction. Guggul and Amalakki both should be taken together for weight loss. Guggul is given for weight loss and Amalakki is a Rasayana which rejuvenates the whole body.

    Hey Bhavna,

Because of the cold wether, the body struggles to increase its temperature (auto immune response) hence raising the BMR from usual. which is what the body exactly needs to lose weight, but the tough thing is that .. as the BMR rises so does our appetite ... n it seems hard to resist the warmth of a samosa or a garam jallebi ... and we r left with increased weight by the end of the season.

    1. Include physical activity like a walk or indoor skipping/dance as a part of your routine. This would increase your BMR further and will help you in losing weight.

    2. Choose healthy recipes with less sugar and low oil content. Instead raw vegetables go with soups. Sweets can be replaced with dry fruits like walnut, almonds etc. See http://www.lifemojo.com/healthy-recipes

    Hi,
Drinking water boosts our metabolic rate. Some studies have shown that hunger and thirst sensations are triggered together. Most of the food contain water. If one doesn't drink much, they may be subconsciously driven to eat more to reach required amount of water. So try to drink a glass of water every hour which can help in prevent over eating.

Other options to increase water intake are like having fruits which are rich in water content, add more of juices, buttermilk, soups, tender coconut, herbal tea, fresh vegetables.

Try to take vegetables in different forms like soup or steamed vegetables.

Walking has its own benefits as you don't need any equipment, needn't spend money and you can walk within your house. As walking boosts energy levels and reduces health risks it will help you to get rid of other physical issues.

A balanced diet and regular exercises helps in belly fat reduction. Straight leg raising in supine position and maintaining at 30, 45, 60 degrees for 10 counts is really effective. Cycling/Bicycle exercises in supine position also helps.
