Not everyone is a sadist to feel pleasure out of pain. But for some, pain may just become a habit. In fact, it does not remain as a pain sensation any more when some activities become "Must Do" and become part and parcel of a routine. And what if such a "painful" step leads to beautification? People will say a big "Yes". After all, we have that much of tolerance to bear something for our grooming.

Waxing may bring some amount of expressions of fear on a beginner's face, but the results of accepting such pain may ultimately allow her to try it out again and again, every month. Who doesn't like others to look at her shiny, well-waxed pair of legs? Who doesn't want to flaunt her beautiful arms with confidence? But this basic want or desire will not get you the desired results. If you are going for a waxing session at a beauty salon or if you want to try your hands on it, then you need to follow these Do's and Don'ts quite responsibly:
The Do's
- Take a Bath in Lukewarm Water: Before you go for waxing, take a bath in lukewarm water. This will open your pores and will ease the hair removal process.
- Exfoliate: Use a body scrub to remove the dead skin cells before waxing. This way, you'll allow the wax strips to rip off the hair more quickly.
- Relax: If you feel tensed, then you are more likely to feel the pain. Try to divert your attention to something else. Chew a gum or think about your daily agenda and you'll be able to overcome the pain.
- Moisturize After Waxing: Do take care to moisturize the waxed parts on a daily basis. This will address the issue of ingrown hairs.
- Trim a Bit If You are Having Bikini Wax: In case you are undergoing a bikini wax, just trim the hair a bit to minimize the pulls on long hairs.
The Don'ts
- Don't Wax at the Day of Any Event: Your skin may turn reddish immediately after waxing and it needs a few hours to get back to the normal condition. So you should choose to wax at the day of any special event or function. Undergo waxing a few days earlier.
- Don't Apply Moisturizers Before Waxing: Applying moisturizers prior to waxing will come in the way of a successful procedure. The wax will not be able to attach itself hard to the surface of your skin and the pulling may not be that effective.
- Don't Take a Hot Bath After Waxing: Your skin will take some time to come back to its original condition and at this time, it will remain a bit sensitive. Avoid hot bath at this period.
- Don't Apply Deodorant or Makeup in the Freshly Waxed Areas: Avoid applying any makeup, deodorant or perfume in the freshly waxed parts for at least 24 hours so as to prevent skin reactions.
- Don't Go for a Sunbathe or Swimming Within 24 Hours of Waxing: The sensitivity of your skin remains high after waxing. Avoid sunbathing and swimming within the next 24 hours.
- Don't Wait for Long: Don't wait for your hair to grow longer because the pulling may actually raise your discomfort. Your hair should be at least a quarter of an inch to allow the wax to grab and pull them by their roots.
- Don't Opt for Bikini Wax Two Days Before or After Period: Avoid opting for bikini wax two days before or after period because the skin is most likely to be sensitive during this time due to hormonal activities.
You may expect dotty skin immediately after waxing. But it will fade away with time. Following these do's and don'ts will enable you to avoid infection risks while allowing your skin some time to recover. And the moment the hot wax strips come closer to you, your countdown to relax begins. Take deep breaths and allow your wax strips to relax as well. You can do this much for a look which will earn you several "wows' later.
