  • Cross trainer shoes or the multi-purpose sports shoes are needed if you practice moderate to high impact steps. This type of shoe is also required if you are practicing kick-boxing. It provides the lateral stability to the foot for sideways motion.
  • If possible, go for a foot-type analysis which is performed by stepping on a computerized surface. This facility is offered nowadays in some of the leading stores especially the ones which deal with athletic footwear.

What are the Shoes That are Specifically Meant for the Runners?

  • Motion-Control Shoes: These are rigid and heavy shoes that are tailored to fix the problems of over pronation (the rotation of the foot at the subtalar joint) and flat foot.
  • Cushioned Shoes: These shoes have padding under the heel and the ball of the great toe. They provide the least stability and specially meant for under pronaters or high archers.
  • Stability Shoes: These types of shoes combine the features of stability, comfort, durability and padding. These shoes with a moderate amount of motion control and cushioning, are specifically required by a neutral strider.
  • Lightweight Shoes: These are designed for the fast pace runners with the neutral arch foot type.

Price should not be an issue while you select the most appropriate type of workout shoe. Check the suitability of the shoe with your socks on. Have a small walk inside the store to check whether the shoes are giving you proper support or not. These ways can minimize your hassles while buying an appropriate pair of workout shoes. Buying the right pair of workout shoes will be your first successful step towards meeting your fitness goals.
