We, as modern, responsible humans, have evolved many ways to maintain our energy and fitness levels. We have become conscious about our social acceptance and our looks and personality have to play a part in it. That's why we want to look "fit" and presentable. But proper diet and fitness have a deeper meaning. It adds to our inner health and boosts up our energy levels.

Some Unintentional Behaviors That Add Kilos

Sadly, even if we focus on the bigger picture, we end up making certain mistakes. We fail to notice that some habits are leading to weight gain. These are the habits which cause overeating without our conscious efforts! Here is the list of the unintended activities:

1. Listening to Music While Eating

We often love to enjoy our dinner while listening to sweet music. It's true that the experience is quite appealing! But in that process, we order more foods and tend to stay in the dinner table for a longer period of time. When we have food while listening to loud music, we tend to eat faster and it becomes too late before we realize that we are already full! So in both the cases, we indulge in overeating.

Solution:

If we are really weight watchers, then we have to sacrifice the idea of listening to music while having lunch or dinner. Instead we can focus on the food taste and savor each bite! A good conversation with others during the meal time can be an alternative to keep us engaged.

2. Standing While Having a Meal

It has been found that whenever we have foods from the plastic containers while standing at kitchen counters, we tend to eat more than what we would really consume while having foods from a plate by sitting at a table! Standing and eating a meal appears to us as if we are having a snack and it does not give us a feeling of fullness until we have eaten much.

Solution:

It is not very wise to take foods while standing! Instead we can enjoy eating in a relaxed way by keeping a proper place or a setup for taking meals. This applies even if we are munching on carrot sticks!

3. Loving to Eat a Lot of Varieties

If we are given only a few types of food, we would limit our consumption to a certain extent. For example, we feel full after having rotis, vegetables and curd. But our hunger tends to increase if the menu contains more varieties of items like papad, chutney, two more types of vegetables, sweets and desserts! We love to taste all of them and in that process we eat more! This is also relevant while we are having lunch or dinner at a buffet system. We try to experiment with all the items. First, we fill our plate and then our stomach!

Solution:

We can control portion intake by picking up only those items which we really like or want to have!

These behaviors come out naturally without our actual intention to do so! But these are subtle factors which add kilos to our weight. These are small, yet important components of a weight loss or a weight maintenance program.
