We claim that we know everything about healthy as well as unhealthy foods. But when it comes to the proper selection of foods, we just blame our busy schedule and say that we cannot manage adequate time to select the foods carefully! It's admitted that it requires a lot of time and effort to collect healthy things in order to keep them available at all times, but still you can afford to do so if you try to be a bit organized.

Here are some time saving shopping tips for all the busy professionals:
- Make a List: Make a note of all the items that you want to buy. Attach this list at a place which becomes easily noticed like the refrigerator or a door. Keep adding items to it. This way, you would not forget buying any important item. This will also save you a considerable amount of time which you would have spent in thinking about the items that need to be bought!
- Organize Your List: Once the list is ready, you can reorder your list or categorize it before going out for shopping such that it would further help you save some more time. Put all the grocery items together, and group all the dairy items together. If you shop from a supermarket, then you can organize your list as per the store arrangement.
- Shop on the "Off" Days and Hours: If you go out shopping on a weekend, you would meet a huge crowd at the store and on the roads too. In addition, there is a possibility that some of the items might get out of stock. It's always better to shop on weekdays or at odd hours, may be in the mornings or at noon.
Once you have all the healthy items in hand, the next important act would be to make a meal in minimum time. Here are a few tips:
- Grab a bowl of cereals and skimmed milk with a fruit for your breakfast. The option is healthy and a fast way to boost up your fitness.
- Instead of snacking on cream biscuits and potato chips, you can munch on multigrain cookies, oat cookies and unsalted popcorn for mid-day meals.
- Having a pasta salad with lots of sautéed veggies in a moment of hurry is a great option. It is a health packed snack which would keep you full for long.
- Some other snacks which require very little time to be cooked include gram flour pancakes (besan chilla), oats upma and egg white omelette.
- If you don't have time to make a fruit juice, you can eat the whole fruit instead.
- Fiber is the thing that you normally choose to compromise on when you run short of time. Instead of making soups, you can have sautéed veggies with some salt and pepper, or plain raw veggies as salad.
Planning in advance and organizing your plans would help you to shop for healthy items and prepare healthy meals in a very little time. Come out with your own recipes and you would find that it's never too hard to find time to prepare meals for the entire family. Taking care of health doesn't need to be too time-consuming or expensive all the time!
