Our mind is very powerful. That is why we are what we think we are. Unless you strongly believe in the possibility of achieving a certain result, you are unlikely to succeed to the level of your desire. Only desire will not give you the result. Desire can start the pursuit, but to reach your "desired" goal, you need to have a strong belief and conviction that you will succeed, no matter what. This concept can be applied to your weight loss goals too.

Mind Matters - Even in Weight Loss!

The Mind-Body Connection

Most of us believe that weight gain and weight loss are just simple mechanisms that is directly proportional to the amount we eat and the exercise we do. However, experts say that food and exercise together make up for two-thirds of this phenomenon, and the remaining one-third is dependent on the matters of the mind. They say that mind has a huge role to play when it comes to achieving your desired weight or health.

For centuries, physicians have been aware about the link between mind and health. Psychological studies have also shown that your mind and your body are strongly linked. If your mental health declines, it can wear down your physical health as well. You can improve your mind-body connection for better mind and body fitness. A relaxed mind can promote good health, improve coping skills, reduce tension and pain, and lessen the need for medication.

The Power of the Subconscious Mind

When it comes to achieving results and success at your endeavor, it is the subconscious mind which helps us achieve it. Unlike our conscious mind, which is very rational in functioning, our subconscious mind will just believe and act upon whatever it is fed with, whether positive or negative. So, why not take advantage of this fact to make things work in your favor, where your weight loss goals are concerned!

Employ Power of Mind to Lose Weight

  • The Power of Writing it Down: Write down what weight you want to see yourself in after a certain time period. Every morning repeat this aloud before you go out of the house. Once you have achieved that goal, set a new target and continue.
  • The Power of Expectation: Instead of wishing to reach your desired weight, expect it to happen. This way, it becomes your commitment than mere desire. Your subconscious mind acts upon firm commitments.
  • The Power of Visualization: Visualize yourself as if you have reached your desired goal, and what you will be doing at that time (something like wearing the jeans that was lying in the closet for years, or trekking energetically, etc.). Dwell upon that vision with great concentration every day for some time.
  • The Power of Discipline: Although it will be a little difficult to discipline yourself in the beginning to stick to your exercise regimen and timings, later on it becomes a habit. Discipline is the virtue that will help you achieve success in any endeavor.
  • The Power of Practice: Practice makes a man perfect. Practicing to use your mind power to achieve the goals you desire helps make your goals a reality. Practice meditation techniques, which help you influence the subconscious mind when it is calm. Meditation needs to be practiced daily.

These techniques will help you motivate your mind and stay motivated on your weight loss regime. When it is difficult to self-motivate yourself, seeking professional advice or techniques like hypnotherapy helps a great deal.
