When we are trying to lose weight we should know why we have gained weight. Targeting the causes would give us better weight loss results. But many of the Diet Plans do not consider the reasons behind the weight gain. An exception is the Fat Flush Diet devised by the nutritionist Louise Gittleman. She warns everyone about today's foods which are high in fats and sodium.

Gittleman's diet plan targets the five hidden factors which lead to weight gain. These factors are stress, food sensitivities and intolerances (leading to water retention), liver problems, excess insulin and fear of eating fat. The diet emphasizes the intake of whole natural foods without salt. This is a strict diet type, but it allows you to eat right! This, in turn, affects your overall health apart from causing positive effects on your weight loss attempts.
The goal of The Fat Flush Diet Plan is to increase your metabolism and speed up fat loss by eating the right combination of foods and eating more often. The unique combination of healthy essential fats as well as correct carbohydrates and proteins provides the weight loss results you desire.
The Three Phases of the Fat Flush Diet
The Fat Flush Diet becomes effective through three different phases:
- Phase I: It continues for 2 weeks. In this phase your maximum calorie intake should be 1100 to 1200 calories. This is the phase which targets your bloated belly and the extra fat, and is designed to detoxify the liver so that it can efficiently burn fat. This phase calls for drinking eight glasses of cranwater (diluted unsweetened cranberry juice) per day to reduce water retention or "bloating". Foods prohibited in this phase include dairy products, bread, margarine, oils or fats (except flaxseed oil), alcohol, cereal, starchy vegetables and sugar. You also need to restrict your consumptions of herbs and spices at this stage.
- Phase II: This phase is a bit lenient in comparison to the first phase. It allows you to add more foods including one carbohydrate a week (choices include sweet potato, carrots, brown rice, butternut squash and fresh or frozen peas). The maximum calorie intake permitted at this phase is 1500. This is the phase in which you need to go on with your plans till you lose the desired amount of weight.
- Phase III: It is the maintenance phase which allows over 1500 calories per day. Along with the starchy vegetables, you can now think of including gluten-free grains and some dairy products in your meals. The foods should be introduced into the diet one at a time, to check for any adverse reactions. In this phase, your meal should consist of 40 percent carbs, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat. The diet also calls for squeezing lemon over almost everything you eat. Some of the combination of food that should be avoided included eating fruits and vegetables together, and eating milk and meat together.
Exercises
The Fat flush Diet program includes an exercise component as well. The normal duration of a daily workout session ranges from 20 to 40 minutes (20 minutes during phase one and 40 minutes during phase 3). The workout sessions would typically include low-impact exercises (such as brisk walking) and strength training twice a week. Brisk walking with your arms swinging back and forth will stimulate the lymph flow and keep the toxins moving. You also need to get eight hours of sleep per night.
Although the Fat Flush Diet seems to be very strict in the first phase, it gradually tends to take a more lenient form as the plan progresses through the various phases. The plan puts emphasis on weight maintenance and at the same time it allows you to have proteins, fats and carbohydrates in your regular meals.

I delivered my second daughter 2 months back thru c-section. I am 36 years and height is 157 cm. Before the baby,my weight has been around 60 kgs. Now it is 76 kg! I want to lose weight and quite liked this fat flush diet but i dont think i can cut down dairy completely as i am breastfeeding. Do u suggest any specific diet plan for my condition.
Best Regards
a big thanks for the compliments. It feels great to know my articles are helping people.
as you mentioned that delivered a baby just 2 months back, i would never advice you to go on a diet so early. and specially not the fat flush diet. basically you need to eat a balanced diet and a nutritious meal for atleast the time when your baby is completely dependant on breastfeeds. that is for the forst 4 months, so for another 2 months plz dont cut down on the healthy food.
while this is true, the best chances of losing the pregnancy weight is while you are nursing your baby, the sucking reflex of the baby produces certain hormones which actually helps in weight loss. so once your doctor permits you, you can start with walking as a exercise, which itself will help you greatdeal in losing weight till the time you can actually go on a diet. try to be as active as possible. and once your baby starts with top feeds you can then start a diet program.
