By LifeMojo Team / December 21, 2010

We can now see the graceful Kylie Minogue in her latest music video, "All the Lovers". But things were not right for the Australian pop singer five years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a surgery in May, 2005. This was followed by sessions of chemotherapy from July 8 onwards. Kylie went public discussing about her illness and treatment. She revealed that chemotherapy appeared to her as if she was experiencing a "nuclear bomb". But she recovered and again went back to her normal yet so "special" diet and fitness regime. Here's how the story goes:

How Kylie Minogue Became a Cancer Survivor

Kylie's Cancer Recovery

To help her with the recovery process, she sought the help of Princess Diana's health guru. He was Dr. Nitish Joshi who treated the late Princess of Wales for depression. Dr. Joshi gave advices on the singer's diet to help her cope up with the drastic weight loss that she has experienced after her chemotherapy sessions. Dr. Joshi focused on Holistic Detox. This is an approach which let individuals know about the foods which are beneficial for their health. It was reported that Kylie was literally obsessed with the intake of fruit and vegetable smoothies. But her friends became very concerned as she lost weight considerably. Dr. Joshi had to recommend her those healthy blends to boost up her immune system. This proved to have a healing effect during her chemotherapy sessions. It was reported that Kylie's weight dropped to just six stone (around 38 kg).

Sources claimed that the pop singer had to consume a dietary supplement made of a mixture of:

  • Papaya
  • Chilli peppers
  • Garlic
  • Tomatoes
  • Rosemary
  • Kale
  • Turmeric
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Seaweed.

Kyle's Diet Plan at Present

Now, let's have a look at Kylie's present day diet and exercise plan. The blonde babe presently weighs 98 lbs (44.5 kg) and she has based her diet routine on the famous Montignac Diet plan. This plan focuses on weight loss and allows an individual to lose weight for up to 4 lbs (1.8 kg) per week. This plan is based on foods consisting of 30 percent of proteins, 30 percent of fats and 40 percent of carbohydrates. This plan divides carbohydrates into two groups, beneficial like vegetables, brown bread, dark chocolate and fruits and harmful like carrots, potatoes, white bread and sugar. This plan not only focuses on weight loss, but also in the maintenance of weight.

In the initial stage, the diet aims in the detoxification of the pancreas to increase glucose tolerance and to prevent the excessive secretion of insulin. This weight loss session continues for a period of two months and consists of food with low Glycemic Index. Its main features are:

  • This diet does not suggest individuals to take a low calorie diet.
  • It incorporates a lot of good fat and fiber.
  • It is an inspiration for the French cuisine which allows the intake of chocolate and cheese in limited quantities unlike other diet plans.
  • It permits the intake of fatty sausages.
  • It does not take into account any hard-to-find ingredient.

Kylie's Fitness Plan at Present

Kylie uses the Power Plate my3 Vibration Training Machine in her regular workout sessions. This machine comes with a vibrating platform which promotes muscle contractions at the rate of 30 to 50 times per second. The individual using the equipment has to maintain her balance while repeating her exercises. This is a great time saving exercise option because it allows for the activation of more muscles at the same time, thereby leading to an exercise of the full body.

Kylie has been able to come back to a regular routine of diet and fitness after she recovered from cancer. We know that, "Early detection saves lives". It has been heard that the "Kylie Effect" has influenced so many women to go for regular medical checks.  Today, Kylie has once again hit the stage with her latest hits. While undergoing the treatment Kylie once stated that she was a cancer patient, but aimed to become a cancer survivor. Hence, a positive attitude towards life aids in the healing process. A simple sentence, "I can" can go a long way to achieve goals which might seem to be so difficult in the initial stage.
