Desperate housewives are really desperate to lose weight! But they do not seem to get adequate time or energy to visit a gym in the midst of their household duties. Still some of them get enrolled in a gym or a fitness class and take sheer pride in announcing "I have joined a high-class gym" to her friends. But does she succeed to get the desired outcomes? In most of the cases, the answer is a big "NO". Many housewives discontinue their visits to the gym soon after joining and end up utilizing that time in watching TV programs and binging. But workouts might result from their daily household activities. Let's check how:

How Can Housewives Shape Up At Home?

Every Movement in the House can Lead to Weight Loss

There are various activities in the house which perform the role of workouts. Examples include:

  • Squats: Each time you sit and get up from the chair, you are actually performing squats. Similarly, when you are picking items from lower shelves (for example, while cooking), you can squat down by bending your knees slowly while keeping your back perfectly straight, instead of bending over at the waist. This will give a good workout to your upper leg muscles (quadriceps and hamstring) and buttocks.
  • Kettlebells: How can you get an effective workout at home without kettlebells? The effect would be the same when you lift up laundry, groceries and children. Whenever you are lifting up an object at home, you are giving charge to your core muscles. These muscles include the muscles of the abdomen and that of the back. When you lift up something, make sure you exhale on the exertion while pulling your navel toward your spine.
  • Stair Master: When you are climbing up the stairs, you are training your buttocks and thigh muscles. The workout would be more effective if you don't take support from the railing. Else, you can take two steps at a time to increase your strength.

Find Out Activities that Give You the Maximum Pleasure

You might have liked some activities since your childhood. These activities might have given you fun and enjoyment. Make a list of these activities and don't hesitate to involve your spouse or children to add matters! Your activity list might include pastimes and sports like archery, ballet, aerobics, bowling, Tai Chi etc. Pick the top five activities which interest you the most and get busy. If you need to learn the movements, try visiting the local recreation center, viewing DVDs or YouTube, or going through the pages of a fitness magazine.

Always Try to Make Body Movements

We do not make much movement in the home unless and until we need to move from one place to the other or accomplish a household job. Your "To-do" list might be pretty long and you can afford to connect with your job while monitoring your breath, improving the efficiency of your movement and by establishing an intact mind-body connection for overall health. Certain activities would allow you to de-stress and unwind. Breathing Exercises are typical examples. During challenging situations, concentrate on breathing exercises. Let your abdomen rise while you gasp air. When you breathe out, just do the reverse - draw your abdominal muscles inward, i.e., pull your navel toward the spine.

These are simple solutions for housewives who wish to stay in shape, but do not get proper time to visit gyms. Staying motivated is the way by which you can find time and opportunities for workouts. This is how you can transform household works into effective workouts.
