Some people stay painfully slim and skinny all their life, much to the astonishment of their healthier cousins. They would do anything to trade places with their "healthier" counterparts. For these people, gaining weight seems to be an impossible task, and they feel depressed about it, very much similar to the way when someone is trying to lose weight and are not able to.

Home Remedies to Gain Weight

The following home remedies, when followed regularly, help you gain weight.

  • Workout, Protein Shakes: Strength training and workouts, along with consuming protein shakes, are good ways of gaining weight.
  • Weight Gain Mixture: Take equal amounts of pomegranate seed powder, white muesli powder, and Indian ginseng root powder. Have this mixture along with a glass of water or milk twice daily for about a month. This will help you gain weight apart from toning up your body.
  • Bran and Fruits: Take 100 to 150 grams of bran with fruits. The best fruit to take in this case is papaya. It works as an excellent appetizer, improving the digestion and reducing constipation.
  • Dry Fruits and Milk: Boil some milk with some almonds, palm dates, and fig (anjeer) in it and drink it warm.
  • Milk and Banana: Milk and banana are both great home remedies for weight gain. When consumed as shakes, smoothies, or on their own, they provide the body with all the nutrients and minerals it requires and also helps to build body mass. However, avoid overeating. Mash the pulp of a ripe banana in milk and add sugar. You can also have banana along with milk on a daily basis.
  • Mangoes: Mangoes are useful in gaining weight. Have a mango followed by a glass of milk. The other way would be to have a glass of mango milk shake every day for a month.
  • Raisins: Raisins are beneficial in solving low weight problems. Have 30 grams of raisins every day for about a month.
  • Figs: Take 3 to 4 dry figs and soak them overnight in water. Have this twice a day.
  • Increase Fatty Foods: Increase your overall intake of foods such as rice, honey, raisins, figs, dates, butter, germinated wheat, etc.
  • Cashew Nuts: Eating cashew nut (Kaju) or sweets made up of cashew regularly is helpful.
  • Goat's Milk: Drinking goat's milk regularly helps increase your weight.
  • Californian Raisin (Munakka): Soak a few Californian raisins (Munkka) in water and eat them along with the water before going to bed. Or else, boil milk with a few Californian raisins, add some honey, and have this for a few days.
  • Almonds (Badam): Soak 10 almonds (Badam) overnight and peel the skin in the morning. Add some butter and sugar and eat this every day.
  • Dry Dates (Chuara) in Milk: Boil dry dates (Chuara) in milk and have it regularly.
  • Peas (Mattar): Incorporate peas (Mattar) in your dishes generously to gain weight.
  • Groundnut (Moong phalli): Eating groundnut regularly helps gain weight.

Whatever your reason for putting on weight is, one thing should be kept in mind that health is more important than looks. If you are healthy and your intention of gaining weight is only cosmetic, the risk of piling on kilos could outweigh the benefits, unless you have some body building aspirations.
