It is interesting to read and observe how funny and outrageous gizmos, creams, gels, machines and masks clothes etc are created to cater to the people's desire for instant weight loss.

Funny and Fraudulent Weight Loss Methods

Many people think that the victims of weight loss frauds are only those people who do want to make efforts and like things easy. But many time even people who have tremendous will power and are willing to make efforts also sometime fall victim to weight loss frauds. This is because they lack 'patience' and cannot accept that results take time. From this impatience emanates extreme weight loss methods and resulting disappointment and  inconsistency .They are unable to continue any healthy habit for long and are ready to give up and try something else as nothing seems to work. In today's time, when emails get delivered in seconds, our concept of results and level of patience is rapidly diminishing.

In such a scenario, outrageously funny weight loss tricks are here to stay. Here we have selected a few really funny (and fraudulent ones) to highlight:

  • Weight loss jeans: Apparently, they are supposed to contain special polymers which release some weight loss substance into your bums and thighs which make them slim.
  • Face masks: Made of some miracle rubber you are supposed to wear them at night and they, over many nights of use, make the double chin disappear. Now you know why phantom wore masks.
  • Weight loss blubber rubber belt: This specially designed belt has cut outs which affect lymphatic drainage.
  • Weight loss electronic belt: This belt has all the modes from pin prick like to shaking to vibrations. Despite showing no results or credible scientific proof, this method is most widely used all over the world .The reason could be because of the fancy looking gadget with a modern look.
  • Slimming creams: Creams, lotions and potions from sorcery have come into the realm of the common man as glamorous products. Creams for the hips and thighs which make you slim in few weeks' and body lotions which melt the fat away is a scam which sells.
  • Weight loss soaps: Weight loss soaps which wash the fat away as you bathe is another scam which sells.

Some of these products are so interestingly packaged with pseudo medical words that one can get duped easily. Frankly, except medical people, it may be hard for people to see through them.

How can you spot a weight loss scam?

Here are some red flags that may indicate that the weight loss product is a scam:

  • Uses terms like "secret formula", "scientific breakthrough", "medical miracle" or "revolutionary".
  • Promises permanent or/and rapid weight loss.
  • Claims to remove fat or cellulite from specific part of the body.
  • Allows you to "eat whatever you want" without limit, and that too without exercising.
  • Claims to rectify the factor that is keeping you from losing weight such as HGH enhancer, Cortisol reducer etc.
There is no substitute for proper, sensible nutrition and hard work. A combination of diet modification and exercise is the most effective way to lose weight (with a goal to lose not more than 0.5 to 1 kg per week) and keep it off.
