When we were a child, our mother used to find out if we were in some sort of trouble or what was going inside us just by having a single look at our face. She used to claim that she could read our face, and she might be true in some sense! Our face serves as a window to our internal health, and what goes inside our body would get reflected in your face! That's what Chinese medicine has to say!

Chinese Face Reading: Health Conditions Your Face Reveals

Chinese medicine believes in the 5-element network of fire, earth, water, metal and wood. Whatever is happening inside our body - such as stomach, heart, hormones and even our mind or spirit - would get reflected in our face! Some face readers and acupuncturists back these studies with some more additions. If we learn to analyze these signs, we would have a better understanding of our body conditions.

Here is a small list of what various facial parts indicate:

Forehead

Forehead relates to your mind, spirit, heart and the small intestine. It is found to be in correspondence to the "fire" element. Look out for changes like:

  • Redness and discoloration of small blood vessels: It suggests some heart problem.
  • Paleness of the forehead skin: It suggests emotional extremes like the loss of a loved one.
  • Furrow in-between eyebrows: It suggests worries.
  • Eyebrows that disappear at end - This reveals a thyroid dysfunction.
  • A bluish-green hue on the forehead: This sign, in combination with some other symptoms (such as dizziness, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations), can foretell a heart attack.

Nose

Nose relates to your stomach, pancreas and spleen. It is found to be in correspondence to the "earth" element.

  • Puffiness around nostrils: It denotes congestion of lung and too much mucus formation.
  • Pimple on the tip or side of nose: It shows the intake of spicy foods in recent meals, and indicates the occurrence of constipation or diarrhea and indigestion. This also stands for too much or too little activity in the stomach and the intestines.
  • Redness of the nose bridge: It reveals that an individual is worried or stressed. It also reflects the possibility of hangover from too much alcohol consumption and even hypothermia (lowered body temperature).

Chin

Chin is associated with the hormonal system, kidney and the urinary system, including the bladder and the ureter (thick-walled tubes that carry urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder). It corresponds to the "water" element.

  • Recurrent pimple or acne on chin: This can be a sign of hormonal imbalance, prostrate problem and menstrual irregularities.
  • Blemishes or dark patches around the chin and mouth: It represents problem with the bladder or kidneys.

Right Cheek

It represents the "metal" element and is related to lungs and the large intestine.

  • Blemishes/Discoloration: It represents problems of the large intestine.
  • Redness/Greenish-blue hue or rash: It represents inflammation of the respiratory tract or asthma allergy.
  • White spot or blotch on either cheeks: It represents yeast infection and high blood sugar level.

Left Cheek

It represents the liver and the gall bladder, and corresponds to the "wood" element.

  • Red, bulging veins: It represents high anger or sometimes high blood pressure.
  • Yellowish coloration or paleness of skin under left eyes: It represents gall stones or elevated cholesterol level, specifically the triglycerides.

Note: The above points are only for references, they should not be used as medical advice. You should consult your physician for any problem you may be facing.

Next time you watch your face in the mirror, go a little deeper than just observing your beauty signs and measuring the degrees of ageing! Who doesn't want to appreciate his/ her beauty by looking at his face again and again? But face has a lot more to tell you rather than letting you know how pretty you look! Look for specific signs and know what your body is sending as signals!
