It is hard to diet, that is an established fact; it's the primary reason as to why so many people get on a diet and leave it mid way. It's not just one cause that a person needs to tackle; there are a bunch of things. Here's putting together some points on how to go on a successful and healthy diet:

- Set the right kind of goals- It's important to set realistic goals as opposed to temporary ones. For example, saying "I'll loose weight for a loved one's wedding" is temporary, after the wedding you're likely to put the weight back on. On the other hand, if you say "My dinner hence forth shall be light" (a powerful weight loss method), that is a long term and more rewarding way to lose weight.
- Make appropriate Lifestyle changes- Making these changes is not easy, so instead of saying things like you'll give up sweets altogether, you could find healthy sweet substitutes instead.
- Tackle Low self esteem- Most people assume that disciplined and motivated people are born like that but truth be told most successful people are average folks with a strong will power that translates into persistence, showing them the results they want.
- Avoid Emotional eating- Many people tend to eat for the wrong reasons like stress, depression and anger too. If one can realize that all eating is not out of hunger and that emotional eating is harmful then it'll help to channelize your stress, anger etc. into something more positive like exercising!
- Avoid clinging to old patterns- Many people feel like losers and this false appraisal drags them down throughout their lives. It's never too late to become a new you.
- Think positively- Healthy living begins with positive thinking, so think positive and your will power will grow too. Not only healthy food but healthy thoughts also count.
- Be active- We all played as children and know how much fun that is, so don't restrict yourself to the gym. Go out and enjoy small activities that give you joy, like walking, jogging or a sport. It's better than sticking to a boring schedule.
- Get support- Surround yourself with positive people, who don't start their sentences with a but and an if, this will only bring you down.
Last but not the least, a successful diet and exercise program is built on many trials and attempts, you'll need to keep experimenting till you find one that works for you. So don't give up and don't fear failure for it is true that failure is the stepping stone to success!

Wonderful article. I agree with yours point of staying active. Staying active in a day itself makes you feel more positive and confident.
