Hair loss is a sensitive subject. If you are shedding hair at an alarming rate and those once lustrous locks are now a distant memory, the last thing you want is an intense discussion on this very touchy subject. But somehow, hair loss brings a whole lot of experts out of the woodwork. All these experts are dead sure that their theory on hair loss is absolutely right. Myth 1: Using a lot of hair products can cause you to lose hair

With the arrival of hair serums, gels, and sprays, bad hair days are a thing of the past. But your hair loss expert is sure to point out gleefully that overexposure to hair products has accelerated your hair loss. However this is just not true. Hair products per se do not cause hair fall. They do however, damage your hair strands. But the all important hair follicles are safe.

Myth 2: Cut your hair to make it grow

That’s truly a myth that has no factual basis whatsoever. Your hair density and length is predetermined by your genes. Good nutrition can also help. But cutting your hair will just leave you with shorter hair and will not promote hair growth. So give up the idea of chopping your thinning locks.

Myth 3: Never use a blow dryer as it will accelerate hair fall

There’s no way that a girl can live without a hair dryer. While it’s true that using excessive heat will have an impact on your hair strands, there’s no evidence that it’s going to result in greater hair fall. Of course, everything should be used in moderation including your hair dryer.

Myth 4: It's your father's fault

This is in relation to balding men. It's commonly believed if your father’s bald, you are likely to go bald too. Actually the baldness gene will be determined by the genetic combination that you inherit from your father and mother. So go ahead, blame both your parents for your baldness.

Myth 5: Brush your hair a 100 times a day

You could do it, but it’s not likely to stop hair fall. Contrary to popular belief, brushing does not stimulate scalp circulation and increase hair growth. It will, however, make your hair more manageable.

Myth 6: Have more sex to grow more hair

This one is truly weird, but rest assured it’s a solid myth. But you could try it and have some fun.

Myth 7: You can increase the number of hair follicles by having more vitamins

Have vitamins to improve your over-all health, but your hair follicles are likely to be unimpressed. You will continue to have the same number of hair follicles that you were born with. Or you could subject yourself to hair transplant surgery.

Myth 8: Stand upside down and grow more hair

Don’t even bother following this myth because it’s not going to help improve blood circulation and in this way promote hair growth.

Myth 9: If you are born bald, then you will lose hair later in life

Don’t panic. There is no scientific evidence that supports this myth. It’s just an old wives tale. Ignore this myth totally.

Myth 10: If you are brainy, you are more likely to lose hair

This is one of the most incredulous myths that people still believe.

However, now that fact and fiction have been separated you need to know that there are indeed good hair treatments that will help you reverse the trend and help grow back hair. Try them out if you are uncomfortable with your hair loss.
