Vermicelli (Semiya) Khichdi Recipe

Ingredients (Makes 2 Serving)
- Rice Vermicelli (Semiya) - 2 cups
- Onion - 2 (Finely Chopped lenghtwise)
- Tomato - 1 (Finely chopped)
- Green chilly - 2 (Slit lengthwise)
- Carrot - 1 (Grate finely)
- Green peas (matar) - 1/4 cup (Optional)
- Curry leaves - 1 string
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Urad dal (black gram) - 1 tsp
- Gram dal (chick pea dal) - 1 tsp
- Turmeric (haldi) powder - 1/2 tsp (Optional)
- Oil - for frying
- Salt - to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in kadai, Add the mustard let it splatter, now add the urad and gram dal, saute till golden brown.
- Add the onion, green chilly, curry leaves, saute till transparent.
- Add the tomato, saute for 3 mins. After done, add carrot and saute for 2 mins.
- Now add turmeric powder, salt and 4 cups of water. Let it boil.
- When the water is nicely boiling, put the vermicelli and simmer for 3 mins. Stir occasionally.
- Cook till its well cooked and the water evaporates fully.
- Vermicelli khichdi is ready.
