We may come across a widely used promotional terminology these days- "Home away from home". This is meant to define an abode which will give you "at-home" feelings. Home, the place where we grew up, where we had a lot of memories and where we developed bonds, is really our piece of heaven. And who has seen heaven? We all have seen heaven, right at our home. It is our home which teaches us values and shows the importance of relationships. And it is our home again which teaches us to eat healthy.

A new study has intended to probe deeper to understand why we tend to eat more nutritious foods at home than when we are away from it. The study consisted of 160 women, who revealed their emotional states before and after having meals. And this supported the fact that psychological factors play an important role in allowing an individual to forego the idea of consuming fatty and sugary foods while enabling him to make healthier food choices.
Researchers have noted that people have a natural tendency to lean towards the high-fat foods and that we are well aware of the fact that broccoli is a better choice compared to French Fries as far as our waistline measurement is concerned.
The findings of the study had led researchers to believe that the positivity present in home atmosphere allows an individual to develop positive emotions on home-cooked meals. The findings also suggest that individuals, who have a good mood at home, take greater interest to prepare meals just to feel privileged after having such meals.
The researchers have concluded that home is a place which encourages healthy eating by triggering positive emotions. They believe that interpersonal communications, the home atmosphere and design, music, kitchen equipments and accessories and the dining room architecture play an important role to induce a positive and healthy eating environment.
