We used to feel a greater motivation on the day we had our PT class in the school. It appeared to us as a perfect scope to stay away from history, biology, mathematics, geography, physics and chemistry for at least two periods and for at least one day a week. We counted time and kept a watch on our wrist watch (secretly) and wished the bell to ring soon. Physical training classes and the sports season in our school used to bring some fresh oxygen in our "bookish" lives.

And we got benefited in the areas of our emotion, behavior and cognition. This is what Israeli researchers have reported. The Tel Aviv University researchers collected data on 649 kids who belonged to low socioeconomic backgrounds. These children participated in several types of sports activities.
Researchers found that physical activities not only improved the general health of the children, but they also experienced positive changes in their behavior, discipline and emotional health. They explained that verbal therapy can help improve an individual's self-control, but cannot eliminate negative emotions from his mind. But sports training can achieve this end and can make children less aggressive.
Researchers conducted an analysis of a six-month after school program in 25 schools in Israel. Fifty percent of the students were placed in a control group in which they did not receive any sports instruction and the remaining fifty percent was allowed to take part in various sports program for five times a week.
The researchers conducted an evaluation of two sets of questionnaires after six months and found improvements in qualities like self-control, problem solving skills and delayed gratifications. It was also found that boys responded to a higher degree in comparison to their female classmates and this is obvious because girls do not have much passion about sports like the boys and they do not have aggression issues either.
We need to offer children a scope or a means to channel out their aggression in a positive manner. Whenever they will get something of their interest, they will tend to pour out their energy in doing it. It's passion and sense of purpose which can make them sensible, disciplined and controlled.
