You may not know or note the instances at which your time-pass, habits, passion or liking are actually harming your children. The process of inhaling and exhaling polluted air while smoking may give you immense pleasure and you may get lost in your "misty" dreams without realizing that your passion may damage your child's future.

The Harvard School of Public Health have suggested that the exposure of children to secondhand smoke increases their risk of developing neurobehavioral disorders like attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other learning disabilities by 50 percent in comparison to the kids who are not exposed to nicotine or other toxic chemicals found in cigarette smoke.
Researchers at the Tobacco Control Research and Training Program at the HSPH in Boston, Massachusetts, studied the data pertaining to the National Survey on Children's Health in 2007. The telephone survey was carried out between April 2007 and July 2008.
The researchers were interested to note down the parent-supplied information on exposure of the children to secondhand smoke till they attained 12 years of age and on incidences of ADD and ADHD. The study covered the data concerning 55, 358 American children.
An analysis of the results suggested that children exposed to secondhand smoke at home are at a 50 percent higher risk of developing ADD and ADHD. The risk was found to be higher in boys than in girls. Children between 9 and 11 years and the ones belonging to the poorest socioeconomic backgrounds were considered as the highest risk population.
The last sentence- if parents want their children to grow up into educated, responsible and learned individuals, then they should perform their own responsibilities. After all, sacrifice is the other name of parenthood.
