"Just moved on" is a common phrase used to describe the action of an individual who had decided to forget his past and to find a new bright, hopeful future. And this is also the advice which you will get from mental health counselors. You may choose to relate this phrase with splits or breakups, but it applies to every "grays and blues" of your life. This is a "way out" from past experiences and to "forgive and forget"- the mantra of lifestyle gurus.

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Granada has suggested that past, pessimistic events have negative implications on people's health and quality of life. They have claimed that people, who have experienced unpleasant experiences in their past lives, may also develop a pessimistic view of current as well as future events.
The study was conducted on 50 individuals who were between 20 and 70 years of age. There were equal number of men and women. Questionnaires and time orientation tests served as the assessment tools. The "Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory" which measures an individual's attitude towards past, present and future was performed.
The physical and mental health of the subjects was evaluated by the results of a quality of life survey, which the subjects were asked to complete. The results made researchers to conclude that a negative perception of the past may be associated with negative health indicators.
Mental health problems may get manifested in physical health disabilities. Depressed people are less likely to put much physical effort in the everyday activities. They are the ones who face physical limitations for work performance and they are the ones who suffer from bodily pain and illness. These people express anxiety and behavioral changes.
But it's not very easy to forget the past. In fact, it is our past course of actions which define our future actions. And obviously, all that you see, may not be a "goody-goody" show. There may not be greeneries with bright roses every time. The best thing is that, learn from your experiences and try to disprove "history repeats itself".
