When running in the dark (early morning/late evening), always choose a route you have already run at least a couple of times in the daylight.

When you are running in the dark, you should be familiar with the route, and not just the turns, but the surface you are running. Knowing where the sewer covers, the pot holes, the low spots are will help a lot.
