Recent studies show that olive oil contains oleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid, that helps control your appetite. The researchers found that oleic acid stimulates production of a compound know as OEA (oleoylethanolamide) upon reaching small intestine. OEA then finds its way to nerve endings that carry a hunger-curbing message to the brain (telling your brean to "stop eating, you're full"). Other food with high unsaturated fat content include avocados and nuts. Protein, carbohydrates and saturated fats (found in many processed food) do not have the same apatite controlling effect.
