To burn more calories while walking, carry a weighted backpack to add resistance to your walking. Avoid using ankle or hand weights.

Make sure that the weight is uniformly distributed in the backpack. Try using water ot sand as filling material in your backpack. Ankle and hand weights are not necessary as they can change the way you walk, leading to injuries.
