Men who sit with their wallet in their back pocket risk severe low back and leg pain by putting undue pressure on nerves and back muscles. Sitting on a wallet in the back pocket can cause damage to key nerves in the back, such as the sciatic nerve. Over time this can cause sciatica. This can lead to pain or numbness in the lower leg, ankle or foot. Walking, sitting and lying down can become extremely painful. Physiotherapists recommend that people with the condition remove their wallet from their back pockets.
