Just one tablespoon of tomato sauce contains 178 mg of sodium, and one tablespoon of soy sauce can contain anywhere from 900 to 1,000 mg of sodium. According to FDA, a healthy adult needs less than 2,400 mg of sodium per day (equivalent to about one teaspoon of table salt).
