
Both capsaicin (found in chili peppers) and curcumin (found in turmeric) have been shown to kill cancer cells without damaging healthy cells in separate studies in 2007. The study showed that the molecules in capsaicin bind to the proteins in the cancer cell mitochondria to trigger apoptosis, or cell death, without harming surrounding healthy cells.
