If you are diabetic, get your eyes checked at least once a year for signs of retinal damage, cataracts and glaucoma.

Diabetes-related eye complications are the leading cause of blindness and vision problem. High blood glucose levels can damage the blood vessels in the retina, in the back of the eye. If left untreated, they lead to the deterioration of vision and ultimately blindness.
