
Other houseplants which can help include peace lily, English ivy, areca palm, reed palm, dwarf date palm, mums, and gerbera daisies. Indoor plants together with the medium in which they are grown can reduce components of indoor air pollution, particularly volatile organic compounds (VOC) such as benzene, toluene, and xylene. The compounds are removed primarily by soil microorganisms and plants remove CO2, which is correlated with lower work performance. Plants also appear to reduce airborne microbes and increase humidity.
