Are you overweight? Lose weight to reduce extra pressure on your knees. Every extra pound of weight increases your risk of osteoarthritis by 5-15%.

A research conducted on osteoarthritis (the most common joint disorder causing pain and stiffness in the joints) by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention suggested that each pound increase in weight over the normal value raises the risk of osteoarthritis in women by 10 to 15 percent and in men by 5 to 10 percent. Therefore, when you are losing weight, you are providing relief to your knees!
