Health Tip for 10 December, '09

Floss your teeth at least once a day after brushing as it helps clean between the teeth.

To floss, use a piece of floss (looks a bit like cotton thread) about eight inches long which you can pull between teeth. Wrap the ends around the middle fingers of each hand. Gently scrape the floss against the sides of each tooth from the gum outwards. This will clean the narrow spaces between the teeth which toothbrushes cannot get to. The gums may bleed a little when you first begin to floss. This should settle within a few days. However, if it persists then see a dentist.
