Zinc

Zinc is a metallic chemical element with the symbol Zn. Zinc is an essential mineral, necessary for sustaining all life. It is a key factor in prostate gland function and reproductive organ growth. Zinc ions are now considered to be neurotransmitters. Cells in the salivary gland, prostate, immune system and intestine use zinc signalling.

High-protein foods contain high amounts of zinc. Peanuts, peanut butter, and legumes are good sources of zinc. Beef, pork, and lamb contain more zinc than fish. The dark meat of a chicken has more zinc than the light meat.
