Tai Chi

Tai chi, sometimes called tai chi chuan, has been practiced in China for centuries as a martial art, as exercise, and as a means of improving the flow of internal energy within the body. Tai chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching.

Because of Tai Chi's emphasis on correct form and feeling each movement, it is practiced very slowly and gently. Completely non-impact, yet involving the entire body, Tai Chi promotes strength, stamina, and flexibility, while tempering the joints of practitioners. Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can practice tai chi. It doesn't take physical prowess.

Tai chi is used to:

  • Reduce stress
  • Increase flexibility
  • Improve muscle strength and definition
  • Increase energy, stamina and agility
  • Increase feelings of well-being
