Selenium

Although it is toxic in large doses, selenium is an essential micronutrient for humans. It is a trace element nutrient which helps in reduction of antioxidant enzymes. It also plays a role in the functioning of the thyroid gland.
Dietary selenium comes from nuts, cereals, meat, fish, and eggs. Brazil nuts are the richest ordinary dietary source.
