Glutathione

Glutathione is a small molecule made up of three amino acids, which exists in almost every cell of the body. It is an antioxidant naturally produced in the body and its strong antioxidant effect helps keep cells running smoothly.

The presence of glutathione is required to maintain the normal function of the immune system. The cells of the immune system produce many oxiradicals as a result of their normal functioning, resulting in a need for higher concentrations of antioxidants than most cells. Glutathione plays a crucial role in fulfilling this requirement.

It has been widely heralded for its importance to good health and long life. Levels may drop as a result of oxidative stress due to disease, drugs, aging, pollution, injury, and radiation and may be severely depleted in patients with AIDS and cancer.
