
Figs are pear shaped oval fruit with sugary pulp and a large number of small seeds of golden colour sticking to the wall of the cavity. It can be eaten fresh or dried. Figs come in three main varieties white, black or purple and red. Even though fig can be taken as whole, some people prefer to peel them.
The different names of fig are dumoor in Bengali, anjeer in Gujarathi, Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri, Marathi, and Punjabi, atti pazham in Malayalam and Tamil, dimiri in Oriya and in Telugu, it is known as anjuru.
