Some of the dos & donts during menstrual period are:
*Consume lots of fluids and fresh fruits.
*Try to take iron- and-antioxidant-rich food like oysters, shrimps, salmon, apples, turnip greens, almonds, chick beans, kidney beans, broccoli, walnuts, and cashews. Take spinach, cabbage and other green leafy vegetables for the mineral source.
*Consume more milk and milk products for the increased calcium needs of your body.
*Include fibre in your diet for constipation that sometimes occurs with menstruation.
*Try to incorporate cinnamon, turmeric, mint, parsley, ginger and basil in your diet as they are known to have potent analgesic and medicinal properties and are very useful in relieving menstrual pain and cramps.
*Hygiene is of utmost importance during period. Use good quality sanitary napkins or tampons and change often.
*Avoid any exercise which exerts excessive pressure on your uterus.
*Try to avoid caffeine as much as possible as it has a pain-enhancing effect during the menstrual cycle.
*Excessive spices are also known to cause acidity or increased gastric motility. Artificial sweeteners are also best avoided.
*Avoid carrying heavy weights during you period.
