What is the suggested weight loss diet for knee injury patient?

I had a knee injury (meniscal injury) 3 weeks back, and doctor has advised me not to workout/walk much for the next 2-3 months to avoid a ligament tear, but lose weight at the same time.

I am a 30 kg overweight, female hypothyroid patient and want to lose at least 5 kg in the next 2 months without workout. Can somebody suggest a diet plan for the same?

    Hi Navneet bawa

Make sure that the following should include in your diet:

Include iodine rich foods like banana , salt water fish , parsley , use iodized salt . iodine which helps to increase thyroid production .
Drink plenty of water alteast 3-4 liters.
    Eat 5 small frq meals.
Maintain portion control & meal timings.
Include more complex carbs & fibers rich foods like fruits , vegetables , green leafy ,whole grains .
Use coconut oil for cooking , which helps to increase thyroid production but use in moderate levels .
Drink warm after every meals & start up your day with warm water in the morning.
Green tea helps to increase metabolism, helps in fat oxidation & helps in weight lose. So drink 2 cups of green tea per day.
Include tyrosine rich foods like fish, lentils, lean meat , low fat milk . Tyrosine helps in the production of thyroid hormone.
Selenium is good for thyroid hormone , increase your intake of foods like brown rice , brazil nuts , salmon & tuna .

    Thanks, Sujitha.
I am trying to stick to home-made food, and cooking on my own. I have started having a lot of fruits and vegetables, and included whole grains in my diet.
I will try green tea and brown rice as well.
Thanks for the information. Do you practice medicine?

    Thanks, Ritu.
I tried the GM diet twice a few months back, but i find it difficult to sustain on it. Also, I have read that the GM diet is more harmful to the body than helpful. Friends who have tried it, managed to successfully lose weight, but it is regained after normal food habits are resumed. I would suggest that if you or any of your friends are trying it, you must stop, since it helps lose only water weight.

    Hey Navneet,
Diet alone would take time to reduce weight. Why dont you try aqua exercises? Aqua exercises would have same effect as doing exercises on ground. As water gives resistive force to the body activities is such type of exercises.
