Weight has increased due to medicines

Hello, I had malaria 2 months back so I had to take its medicine for a month. I realized that my weight has increased suddenly due to the consumption of malarial medicine. What shall I do?
1) I eat oatmeal in breakfast with fruits
2) I eat 2 chapati , daal and a vegetable in dinner.

    Hi Nupur,

Many prescribed drugs have a side effect of Weight gain. Now that you are done with the medications, follow some of the most common weight loss tips such as the following:

    * Set a practical goal of 2 - 3 kilos in a month and make sure not to follow any unrealistic low calorie/ crash diets.
    * If you want to have sustainable weight loss, you need to follow a natural process of healthy diet and regular exercises, which needs to be continued even after the weight loss.
    * Eating a low-carbohydrate, low-GL diet will help you control your appetite and decrease cravings. You'll feel full sooner, you'll find it far easier to stop eating once you're satisfied, and you'll find yourself less hungry between meals. Include high quality protein, as it is essential for maintaining lean muscle mass for optimum metabolic rate.
    * Include the goodness of vegetable and fruit fibre in the form of salad, soups, juices and milkshakes. Fiber-rich foods generally take longer to chew, meaning you'll eat more slowly and probably eat less. They take longer to digest, which means more time will pass before you feel hungry again.
    * Make you breakfast the highest calorie meal and include more options like cereals (oat/ wheat/ corn/ all bran/ dalia), poha, upma, whole wheat bread (toast/ sandwiches), egg white (Boiled/ scrambled/ omelette), idlis, dosas, etc. As breakfast with be the 1st meal of the day, it gives a good start to your day.
    * Have small regular Meals at least 5 - 6 time a day.
    * Consume minimum 8 to 10 glasses of water, with couple more glasses of fluid in the form of juices, milk, buttermilk, soups, etc.
    * Include 25% of wheat bran to wheat flour while making chapathi dough to increase the overall fibre intake.
    * Switch to skimmed milk.
    * Have at least one cup of Green Tea everyday
    * Avoid Fasting or Feasting. Don’t starve. Don’t overeat.
    * Avoid too much salt/ sour things like sambhar/ kadhi in the night. Both lead to water retention.

    Also, Note that

Total sugar/honey allowance in a day - upto 4 tea spoons
Total oil allowance in a day - upto 4 tea spoons

    Hi Archana,
    This was very helpful :)
I actually started following following you. My weight is coming under control, but my skin is becoming loose from my arms and stomach.

    My daily diet-
    Breakfast: Oatmeal
lunch- 2 chapati, daal and sabji
    snacks- juice
dinner - sprouts + whole grain bread.

Exercise - I am doing surya namaskar daily minimum 10 cycles daily.
Please suggest what can be done.

I think this might be side effect of your medicines, well you can lose weight easily by maintaining good food choices, reduce the amount of oatmeal you eat. Eat Fruits and salads for your dinner rather you eat whole grain bread have more fat and calories so you can quit that snack.

Well your already know about Surya namaskar, do up to 40 surya namaskaras and stay fit younger way...
