Water helps weight loss?

Hi,
I understand that drinking 12 to 15 glasses of water helps in weight loss.
But am unable ti understand how? Also, if I add lime juice to the water I drink, will it help in accelerating weight loss?

Are there any negative effects of having excess of Lime water in a day? Say, i have 4 litres of water with juice of 8 limes added, will it have any negative effect that i need to worry about?

    Hi Mihir,

There are many ways how water helps in weight loss but the prominent ones are:
    1. Suppressing appetite - especially if you drink it before any main meal. This way there is less space for food, you feel fuller fast.
    2. Improves metabolism - For a normal calorie burning process, your body needs adequate amount of water. And lesser the water you drink, the fat-burning process gets slower.

Lime in luke warm water with honey, does help you in weight loss as it acts as a good fat burner, making way for losing weight faster.
Excess of lime can be bad too, it can lead to erosion of your tooth enamel and gastric discomfort. 1 litre of lime juice in a day would be enough.

    Hi Archana,
    Thanks for your reply.
When you say 1 litre of lime juice... Is it lime or lemon (Limbu). If I am to take lemon juice how much should I take in a day to be safe to ensure that I donot damage my tooth enamel?

Hi Mihir, both have similar properties so either of them.. Lets say you would be talking around 1 litre of lemon juice per day, so you can add around 1 - 2 lemons in it according to your taste..

    Hi Archana,

Sorry, let me rephrase my qs.

How much juice can I have of lemon per day. Here lemon is the normal Limbu that we get in the local indian market. Can I have juice of say 6 lemons in a day without running the risk of it effecting my tooth enamel?

Hi Mihir, 6 lemons would be a lot, probably 2 - 3 max.. When you say juice, you would be adding them to water or in some food, right?
