    hi i have selected swimming as an excerise .tell wether it will help me to lose my weight espcially from hips and thighs

    Swimming is one of the best cardio exercise, you can do for weight loss. Do combination of cardio exercise cycling is very good for thighs, running is very good for over all body.

    Of course swimming will help you in losing weight. Since swimming is a low impact aerobic exercise it very effective in losing weight. Prefer doing butterfly stroke swimming as it burns more calories. Along with this some aquatic exercises like : walking in pool with water level at your shoulders ; under water cycling etc. can help you to tone your hips and thighs.

    Would jogging help too ? Or should it be 5-6 km of brisk walking only? I don't want thighs to bulk up. Could you recommend some floor exercises too.

    Hi Sibi,
    Any aerobic exercise will serve the purpose, provided its dosage (intensity and volume) is sufficient enough to stress our cardiovascular system. But make sure you don't overtrain yourself. Jogging as well as brisk walking are good form of aerobic exercises and thus, will help you in reducing the weight. Apart from that do some toning exercises to shape up your thighs. Spot jogging, step aerobics, supine cycling, hip busters, Squats, lunges, etc. are some of the floor exercises you can do.
