Wrestlers wear tight fitting vapor impermeable suits and this along with vigorous exercise and dehydration leads to increase in body heat and death. Wrestlers began losing weight rapidly after vigorous exercises as their bodies became dehydrated more quickly. Many wrestlers to reach their competition weight subjected themselves to rapid weight loss techniques like fluid restriction, vapor impermeable suits, and hard core exercises. They also consumed diuretics, laxatives and emetics to achieve their desired weight. Some subject themselves to hot environments like sauna where dehydration occurs rapidly. A combination of all these adversely affect renal function, cardiovascular function, body composition, electrical activity, electrolyte balance, muscular strength and endurance and body composition, leading to fatalities.
