Two basic (and well known) rules to get a flat tummy and overall toning:

    - Diet – Ensure that the diet is a healthy one. You do not need to do anything drastic, but it helps to avoid the usual fried and sweetened stuff. Stay off carb rich food (rice, etc.) and break your 2-3 meals per day down to 5-6 meals per day. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated at all times.

    - Exercise – Normally people feel that crunches are the only way to lose tummy flab. Ab crunches will only develop and tone the abs. But, you need to lose the excess fat around the abs to reveal them. Hence, you need to ensure that you do cardio exercises at least 3 times a week. Running, cycling or swimming are very good examples. During your cardio exercises you will lose the excess fat and at the same time tone your overall body. So if you are looking for a flat tummy, you have got to run, cycle and/or swim.

Above all, do not cheat on your diet and never give up on your exercise plan. You might have to modify and fine tune your diet and exercise plan regularly. But, it is only a matter of time before you will have the tummy you have been craving for.

    Hope it helps! :-)

    Hi Guneet,
To reduce your tummy, you need to do lots of weight training exercises like cunches, reverse crunches, heel touch, etc. We need to do more of cardio exercises like running, jogging, brisk walking, swimming, etc for atleast some 45 min , 5/week for better results. Weight training exercises are more for toning your tummy muscles. You need to have a combination of exercises along with low calorie diet and avoid any junk food like burgers, pizza, passta, etc. These food items are more likely to increase your fat content in body.
