how to reduce belly fat

Any tips for reducing fat from the belly in particular. I think this is the most common place from which people would want to get rid of fat from. Some people had told me that spot reduction is not possible. However, I have also heard that some guidelines can be taken followed targetting the burning of fat from particular body parts. comments?

Here are some tips to lose tummy fat:
    1. Avoid outside fatty foods. They may have trans-fats.
    2. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep in a day.
    3. De-stress yourself. Do some activities which are stress-bursters for you.
    4. Drink a lot of liquid/water/fuilds
    5. Eat food in a right routine. Heavy breakfast, moderate lunch and lightest possible dinner. Take a walk after dinner. Dinner plays very important role in tummy gain.
    6. Avoid beer. Switch to wine if necessary.
    7. Do some tummy exercises. Crunches are best.

Hi Anika, Spot reduction is definitely possible.. But it can be done only by maintaining a controlled diet pattern and doing exercises for that particular spot like for example: belly - bicycle crunch, twisting crunch, sit ups, hover, etc.. Similarly for thighs, u can try these - squats, lunge, step up, step down, etc..

Aerobic exercise is key. Aerobic exercise will facilitate fat loss all over your body, including your belly. You can't "spot-burn" belly fat, but it's usually the first to burn off when you exercise. Just be sure that you focus on calorie-burning exercises, rather than sit-ups or crunches.

    * An additional benefit is that exercise reduces stress and insulin levels, which reduces the presence of cortisol, a hormone that leads to more belly fat deposits.

A balanced diet and regular exercises helps in belly fat reduction. Straight leg raising in supine position and maintaining at 30, 45, 60 degrees for 10 counts is really effective. Cycling/Bicycle exercises in supine position also helps.
