In hypothyroidism people usually tend to gain weight because the basal metabolic rate (BMR) decreases.and usually the weight loss process is very slow.So for that it is very necessary to do something which increases metabolism and help you in weight loss.Here are some tips given below which will help you in reducing your weight-
1. First of all it is very necessary to be on thyroid medication as prescribed by doctor.It is better take consultation in the initial stages only and also check your thyroid levels on regular basis
2. Take short and frequent meals which will help you in increasing metabolism and you will not tend to eat more in your next following meal.Drink plenty of water.You can also have green tea which helps to increase metabolism.
3. Take a low carbohydrates and diet which has low glycemic index.Avoid starchy foods like bread,rice,pasta and also avoid refined cereals like maida and suji.You can have diet rich in complex carbohydrates and high fiber like fruits and vegetables..there are some fruits and vegetables which has to be avoided like broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, turnips, soybeans, peanuts, linseed, pine nuts, millet, cassava, and mustard greens as they have goitrogenic effect.
4.Diet should be low in fat.Avoid fried,Junked,Canned and processed food.
5. And last but very important is to exercise daily for 30-40 minutes which helps in increasing metabolism and losing weight.
