Indian diet is rich combination of carbohydrate, protein and fats. Most the recipes in Indian diet are rich calories and fats and oils. However, they are rich in fiber also. You can have oat bran. jowar, ragi, barley which are fiber rich cereals. They are easily available and helps in reducing weight. The only thing you have take care in Indian diet is the fat intake. Avoid Ghee, Butter and any saturated fats. Ideally, a person requires 3 tsp of oil in day not more that. Have abundance amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Avoid having high calorie food specially at dinner time.

I agree with kirsten, According to indian foods, you can lose weight by choosing very cereals like jowar, ragi, whole wheat, bajar, more of green leafy vegetables, vegetables, healthy cooking style, choosing vegetables oil for cooking not too much of animal fat. Reducing the fleshy foods or choosing low fat ones like fish, egg white, skinless chicken ?& lean meat.
