In order to loose weight you should atleast reduce your calorie intake by 500-1000 calories.

I disagree with you & 500-1000 is very low calories which is not advisable for healthy weight loss. But 1000 is ok, sometimes it is not recommended. For healthy weight loss one should take 1200-1500 calories in a day with well balanced diet. Along with diet , exercise is more important to lose the weight.
