what is the glycemic index of fat?

    The fat content of a food reduces the glycemic index of that food because it slows down the rate of emptying of the stomach and thus the digestion of any starch in the meal. Thus the glycemic index of fat is lower than carbohydrates, though the calorie content is more.

    Hi bhavana,

    i agree with swati, the glycemic index of the food is the food's ability to raise the blood sugar to some level. and as the amount of fat increases in the food its GI DECREASES.

    fat doesnt have glycemic index... Its only the food having carbohydrate have glycemic index
