Gluten -free diet is given in celiac disease in which the small intestine is sensitive to even small amount of gluten (found in wheat,rye,barley,oat, triticale and some other grains.There is no cure but the disease is managed by a gluten-free diet ,otherwise if ignored it can lead to osteoporosis, malnutrition, and infertility.The food that contains gluten are breads, pizza, pasta, malted breakfast cereals, bagels, crackers,oats etc.
This type of diet is sometime given during weight loss to change the usual dietary pattern which may result in weight loss.
