The number fat cells in any individual are fixed at the time of birth. This is based on the carrier genes and the heredity factors.Only the size of fat cells increases with age, lifestyle and eating habits, but number remains the same.

I agree we are born with fat cells. and these fat cells varies from person to person. When we do certain kind of diet and exercise we reduce the size of the fat cells, and that is why we reduce our weight. But after a period of time when we are back to our normal lifestyle. i.e no diet no exercise we tend to put no weight. The reason behind is that we decrease the size of the fat cells by diet and exercise but the number remains the same. So the Golden rule is that certain kind of precaution have to be taken throughout our life.
