Well you do need a little bit of fat to get through the day, so you cannot completely abstain from eating fat. But you have to limit your fat consumption to a large extent and make sure that it does not exceed what you are supposed to eat. You can include dairy products to complete you daily fat requirements. But make sure that you use low fat products such as low fat yoghurt, skimmed milk, one percent milk and low fat cheese. Try not to use too much butter in your food. Just because you are on a diet it doesn't mean you can eat fat.

    Hi Niharika ,

yes some amount of fat is essential for us. if you are looking for weightloss, stcik to less than 5 tsp of fat a day . but a 2000 calorie chhart is too much for weight loss. if your purpose is any other, than upto 7stp fat is allowed in a 2000 calorie diet chart. dont forget the sources of these kind of fat is also imp. so avoid saturated fat , stick to mono unsaturated fat like olive oil, mustard seed oils and peanut oil ... avoid hydrogenated fat completely
